Sofia Coppola, the 40-year-old screenwriter and film director, actress and producer and Thomas Mars, the 34-year-old rocker of the Grammy award wining French group Phoenix, will marry in August in the town of Bernalda at a 19th-century villa called Palazzo Margherita in Southern Italy.They have two children together, Romy, 4, and Cosima, 1.
The pair met when he recorded a song with the band Air for her 1999 movie "The Virgin Suicides," People said. Mars' music has also been featured in the soundtracks of some of her other projects, such as the 2010 film "Somewhere" and the 2003 movie "Lost In Translation," for which she was nominated for Oscar. This is second wedding for Coppola. Sofia Coppola was previously married to director Spike Jones between 1999 and 2003. They have no children together.
Sofia Coppola is the third ( the first American woman ) to be nominated for an Academy Award for Directing 'Lost in Translation'. She is the first American woman and fourth American filmmaker to win the Golden Lion, the top prize at the Venice Film Festival.
